Any one estimate carries error. A month of them, read against your own calibration, shows whether you are drifting up or coming down — and that is the question worth asking between clinic visits.

Six bands

Classified on the worse of the two numbers.

130 over 71 is Elevated, not normal. The band is taken from whichever of the two numbers sits higher, so a good diastolic never rescues a raised systolic. This is a deliberate correction to how the earlier app read the pair.

Band definitions follow the thresholds in common clinical use. The app shows your band; it does not interpret it for you.

It needs a cuff once, then it works from your finger.

01Three cuff readings

Enter three measurements from a validated home or clinic cuff, taken at rest. These anchor the model to your own arteries rather than an average pair of them.

02The ring learns the shape

Pulse-wave shape, transit timing and heart rate are read together, then fitted against your anchors so the estimate has something real to stand on.

03Re-anchor now and then

The app asks for a fresh cuff reading periodically, and whenever your resting physiology shifts enough that the fit is worth checking.

Pulse pressure — the gap between the two — is the one most people have never seen, and it moves with arterial stiffness over years rather than days.

Patterns worth knowing

Four shapes a month of readings makes visible.

The morning surge
A rise in the first hours after waking. Ordinary in most people, worth watching when it is steep.
Evening creep
Higher after work than before it, for weeks at a stretch — usually load, salt or sleep.
The training block
Up while the load is on, down below where it started once you taper. Both directions matter.
A slow decline
The one you want. Months, not days, and invisible without a record to compare against.

Circular describes patterns in your own estimates. It does not diagnose hypertension and is not a substitute for a cuff or for clinical advice.

Honest limits

What it does, and what it will not pretend to do.

  • A trend, on your wrist-free handDirection over days and weeks, without strapping anything on. That is the whole proposition.
  • Not a replacement for a cuffDiagnosis, medication decisions and clinical thresholds all belong to a validated cuff and a clinician.
  • Only as good as the anchorA careless calibration produces a confident-looking wrong number. The app nags about this on purpose.
  • Gaps stay gapsA poor-signal night is shown as missing rather than filled in with an estimate of an estimate.
  • Export for your doctorThe whole record leaves as a PDF, with the calibration dates attached so it can be read properly.

No. It tracks the direction your blood pressure is moving between cuff readings. Any decision about medication or treatment belongs to a validated cuff and a clinician.

To meet medical-grade clinical standards, a monitor must achieve a mean error of 5mmHg or less, with a standard deviation of no more than 8mmHg.

The Circular Ring 2 meets that however a lot depends on the calibration phase.

Here is all factors that can distort reading even with cuffs

1. Equipment & Technique Factors

  • Cuff SizeA cuff that is too small overestimates blood pressure (+2 to +10 mmHg). A cuff that is too large underestimates it (-2 to -10 mmHg).
  • Arm PositionIf your arm rests below heart level (e.g., hanging by your side), the reading will be artificially high by 4 to 23 mmHg. The arm should be supported on a table at mid-sternum/heart level.

2. Posture & Rest

  • Lack of RestMeasuring without resting quietly for 3–5 minutes beforehand can skew systolic readings upward.
  • Crossed LegsSitting with crossed legs at the knees elevates systolic blood pressure by 2 to 8 mmHg. Feet should be flat on the floor with back supported.
  • Talking or Active ListeningTalking or actively engaging during the measurement can increase readings by 10 to 19 mmHg.
  • Caffeine, Nicotine, or ExerciseConsuming caffeine, smoking, or exercising within 30 minutes prior to a test raises blood pressure transiently.
  • Stress & Anxiety ("White Coat Syndrome")Anxiety in a medical clinic or home environment can cause spikes of up to 20 to 30 mmHg.
  • Cold TemperaturesBeing in a cold room causes blood vessels to constrict (vasoconstriction), resulting in higher readings.

Optical sensors read the shape and timing of your pulse, not pressure itself. The cuff readings tell the model what those shapes mean in your body — arteries differ enough between people that a generic mapping is not good enough.

The app prompts you, and asks sooner if your resting heart rate or temperature baseline shifts. Re-anchoring after a change in medication or a long illness is always worth doing.

It samples through the day and overnight, then reports a daily estimate with the spread around it. It is not a continuous read-out and does not claim to be one.

No. Blood pressure trends are included with the ring, permanently, like every other measurement.
